Default Reverse Grind

Every now and then.. mainly when the car is cold.. I push down the clutch to the floor and go to put it in reverse and it makes a clanking sound. Does neone else have a similar problem?

I have an 07' Si Sedan

Do you mean the whinding noise it makes when you reverse? Or the click noise it makes when you put it into gear?

Nah its not the winding in reverse

I know the click noise is normal but its making a short grinding noise... My clutch feels like its okay. I really havent beaten on it. There is also 13,000 miles on the car and i havent changed me tranny fluid. That will be happening tomorow. Maybe that could be an issue. but its makes that noise just as often as my third gear issue that everyone has.

Have you tried putting the car in 6th (4th for a 5spd) before reverse? That's always been a "trick" with Hondas. I think it may even mention it in the owner's manual.

I have heard the reverse grind before on my 07 Si as well. The only times I have heard it is when I go to reverse after coming to a stop from moving forward. I usually put it in 1st before going to reverse, then there is no grind. I guess putting it in 6th would do the same thing.

in the past 1st gear is the same as reverse. puting the shifter in 1st lines the sycro's up for a smoth trans to reverse. not sure about our 6 speeds. but yes sometimes I have trouble with R

Press the clutch in And wait for about 2 seconds before goign into gear. REverse has no syncro and has to self align,m therefore it takes longer.

Are you rolling forward at all? Even the slightest movement forward will cause a grind? Only asking because I seem to have every single tranny problem found on the SI in my tranny, but no reverse grind.

no im not moving forward at all.. i think maybe thats my issue.. ill have it parked in my driveway on a hill... put my foot on the brake.. release hand brake.. clutch to floor.. and it grinds going in sometimes... it doesn't really grind to much.. its more like a clanking noise

Been driving Hondas for 10 years. I now instinctively check into first and then go into reverse when backing up. Weird I know, but always works for me.
