Default Honda hybrid

I bought a used 2007 civic hybrid a few months ago. When I push the accelerator the engines starts to race with little acceleration, at times racing to 4000-4500 RPMs. Sometimes I wonder if the car will even make it to the top of a hill, all while the RPMs climb higher and higher and the engine races more and more. It's as if the clutch is worn out, accept the car is an automatic.
In addition the gas mileage is as low as mid twenties, while others tell me they never get lower than in the thirties.
Something seems really wrong with this car. Any ideas?

I'm not sure about the last service. It does sound like you agree that it is not performing normally.

It sounds like the transmission is slipping, better get back to that dealer asap.

If the trans is slipping that bad it won't be long before it doesn't move at all.
