This happened twice:
Issue: In the first instance, I was parking and went in reverse, my abs error light started to go off. Then all warnings (power steering, sliding symbol, battery, check engine, ect) started flashing and I lost my power steering. I was able to get in drive and finishing parking when I immediately turned off my vehicle. Waited for a moment, then tried to start. Battery had drained. I was able to jump it and take it to get battery, alternator, and starter tested. All tested fine. I then drove my car as usual as I thought it was just a fluke.
a couple weeks later it happened again only this time I let it run its course and my battery did not drain and the car is fine again. A couple differences between the first time and this time:
the first error I got was airbag then I got all the erratic messages flashing and lost my power steering. I was driving 55 mph and had to pull over. I kept the car on while it displayed all the error messages all the while my battery was trying to die. Lights flickering ect. It eventually stopped on its own after a few minutes and I was able to turn around and drive normally and safely five minutes back to safety.
I am now 6 hours from home and terrified to drive my car back home without fixing this. Help! My battery is old and I am due for a new one. Could this be as simple as a new battery? Has anyone experienced this?
