Buying new shocks/ struts- Rockauto
HI there
I am looking at purchasing Monroe OE spectrum shocks and struts for my 2007 Honda civic sedan. On the Rockauto site it also lists a Stut Mount and Strut Bellow. I am replacing 2 OEM struts and OEM shocks that are blown. Has anyone ordered this particular brand of shock and strut and did you buy the bellow and the mount? Are the necessary or can the oem ones be used?

How did you determine your existing shocks are bad ? KYB is the manufacturer of struts for our cars and it's likely yours won't be bad until atleast 200k. Save your money and buy some sway bar links and bushings for the front and rear, assuming they haven't been changed yet on your car.

I'm not going to say its impossible but it's a bit hard to believe unless it has aftermarket struts. Be that as it may, keep in mind there are rebates available for KYB shocks and struts. The clunking you hear is likely more related to the sway bar bushings and sway bar links being bad.
They are fairly cheap priced from Honda.

With that sort of mileage and the way the Canadian roads are they could fairly easily be blown.
Are you replacing just the shocks or the springs also? I would probably go with the KYB route if I had to go that direction also... Don't know exactly what area you are in but make sure you get them from a reputable shop that can warranty them and the work!

Of course, get a reputable shop with trained, certified techs doing the work and get a good solid warranty.

Exactly!
Also take a look at your ball joints, inner and outer tie rods and bushings while you are at it... it would be about that time to be thinking of all that as they would be pretty close to end of life!
