i was wondering with all the stiff competition facing the si, (New 2010 gti, 2010 mazdaspeed 3, and etc) is honda going to go out with a big bang on their 2010 si? or just leave it as it is and re-vamp for the new civic in the 2011 year?

o yah i was doing research and googling and all i got was "their bring the type-r from japan to america"...i highly doubt that. i was hoping for a horsepower increase of some sort or sumthing. any ideas guys?

Rumor. The 2010 is going to be the 09. Look for 2011 to be a revamped version.

Also it would be too soon to introduce a new chassis for the civic. Previous model lines followed a certain time span that I'd expect to be conserved for the 8th generation civics. The em/ek/ej models existed from 96-98 and 99-00 (refreshed). The es/em/ep were constructed from 01-03 and 04-05 (refreshed). The same pattern is again implemented with civics from 06-08 and again refreshed for 09-10.

I'd come to expect the 9th gens to appear late 2010. As for hp gains, I'd say 10+/-2 at most, a revised renditon of the K20 with no Type R in site for this side of the Pacific. Again, this is all my own speculation of what is to come.

Sadly i agree with all said above. Although honda is facing a lot of some quite hefty competition all the cars that really compete with the Si are more expensive. I think this single fact will keep honda from doing anything too extravagant until they absolutely need too. And when i say absolutely need too i mean another car company puts out a car that is cheaper and faster than the Si, and looking around i dont think any car companies will be able to beat honda in those criteria.

BUT please honda give us a car that CAN compete with mazdaspeed3's and sti's. even a Si that you can drop just a lil bit of money into and compete with these cars would be my dream.

Someone asked me yesterday "Why don't we get the Type-R in the US?" The only thing I could think of was maybe its the emissions or the horsepower... I would think there would be a pretty good demand for a Type-R model here, so does anybody know the real reason why we can't have them?

they just did the mmc on the 09 so there wont be a change atleast drastic change on 2010 model.

boosted cars require ongoing maintenance so they suck so in the long run the 40k civic which would probably be 30k, would be cheaper in the long run

Im not sure about pricing of the New FD2 Type R but i know the Mugen RR is in the mid 40k's in U.S. currency. I think the regular Type R is somewhere in the low 30k's? But not sure.

I know the mazdaspeed3 and the gti use direct injection, and i know that it is better, but ive never really known why. Can someone enlighten me please?

i noticed that the companies that use gdi are more higher up companys, like opel, bmw, alfa romeo, and lexus.

so it must be a little more expensive than the method honda is using.

idk tho cuz the mazdaspeed3 and the gti are both only like a couple thousand more than the si and they have turbos? isnt the turbo the thing that makes the biggest cost difference?

not completely, although the turbo does add to the cost factor, it was part of the design of the entire motor that makes the car more expensive, plus they probably added the turbo to compensate for power not made else where in the motor's overall design ... the k series makes plenty of power and has obvious potentials for power gain but even its stock design is significantly better (in my opinion) without the use of a turbo ... take out the turbo in most cars and they wouldnt stand up very well to a kseries ...

cuz i know a few cars that if you take out the turbo will still give a k series a good match lol
