Hey everyone, ive ditched the idea of the SSR Type X's i had, just because i think they are gunna make me unhappy soon, i wil lhave to much wheel gap and they are just to small for me to make work unless im absolutely hammered.

My buddy has got me an INSANELY cheap price on Konig Kolors in Graphite, with some cheap, decent tires. Keep in mind my car is only lowered 1.3" ( H&R sports) and has a 2 finger gap up front with 1 finger in the rear.

I have a pick of the almost any size tire i can think of.

Im wondering what i should run.

ID LOVVVEEEE to see a 225/40/17 but im worried it wont fit

I can also try a 215/45 or 215/40

im not going 205's as there is no use, i can easily fit a 215.

so u think i should chance it, and go for the 225/40

or stay closer to safe with a 215?

Also, whats a good offset, i know the common is around 35-40, but would i be able to fit the 225's any easier with a different offset?


Please be kind to my newby offset questions i really have no experiance with tires/rim's as ive never really had a choice before. I just want to do it right.



I know they are a replica of the Enkei RPF1, but as im going to school, i cant afford the real deal. Plus the real deal doesnt come in this sexy colour.

If you're only lowered 1.3, go 225/40. On the offset, As long as it's not like +47MM, I think you'll be okay with them. Mine are 215/45's with a 40MM offset and I'm doing fine with a 1.8 inch drop. The 10MM (If that) extra width on the tire probably won't affect you that much.

 

They're not bad for weight, at 17.4lbs each. But, they're Cast, so I wouldn't buy them for track driving.

 

215 -225 /45, 40 is too small, your ride will suck .

Ya i know they are cast, but since my car wont be seeing track, just commuting i figure they are ok.

you're not dropped enough to experience rubbing, except on uturns maybe... get 215 to be on the safe side

 

I'd say go 215/45 and it'll fill in the wheel gap nicely with your drop. 40 series would only make the gap look bigger.

The car has settled more since those pix. I had no gap before and the ride was crappy.

I'd still go with 215/45's to keep from any possibility of hitting your fender.

 

215/45's ftw!

I've had both 215/40 and 225/45 on my car

215/40's were pretty rough ... potholes made me worry that I was gonna bend my rims.

225/45's are good though.

does anyone even make 225/40? ... the only good performance tire in that size are the nitto nt555's, iirc.

 

Carbonrod, what suspension are u on? I WISH my H&R's would settle in the front, IMO it looks like stock rideheight, the car is damn near sloping upwards.

The rear On the other hand, is sexy, very nice fit with a 205/50/16.

I think im just gunna cheap out again and just get neuspeed race springs. I hate not being able to afford a good coil over setup

 

I have kit on with a 2 inch drop and I have 215/40/17 so yea you will be fine

 

225/45r17 should work just finewith that wheel.....the offset on that wheel is a 40 or 42mm???????????still should tuck in just fine........my buddy had enkei dm5 18's with a 215/45r18 on them with a 1 1/4 drop with eibach pro kit springs.

Those are not RPF1 knockoffs, they're not even close.
Anyways, 225 is a big stretch. You need to roll the fenders for sure, you also need to make sure that the offset on the wheel will keep the tire off the spring seat and the A arm in the rear, as well as the gas filler neck.
I speak from experience. It works, but everything needs to line up right for it to work.
