Water in the Intake
So I was in the northern Chicagoland area with severe flooding. I was driving my 01 EX.
So I came to this really flooded street, I have a shitty "cold" air intake the previous dumbfuck owner put in. Anyway, the water calms down, drivers are driving slow and take turns driving down teh center. My turn, I go. This stupid ************ in an SUV hurls at me, makes a huge wave, water goes over my hood and windshield, stalls the car and burns out my $75 HID bulb.
So I get out the car in 2 feet of water, as I opened the door water started to pour in after that pos drove by and created waves. So i push my car down. Take of the intake, start the car, runs like crap. I gave it a few minutes, out the air sensor back in, ran it for 20 minutes, dried the filter, put that back in. Engine light was on but then turned of when I started driving.
When I took of the air intake there was some water behind that flap, a small amount. Im just wondering how bad that is for the car. I drove it at least 10 miles afterwords and it runs perfectly fine, cept for the damn burned out HID bulb, lens flooded.
Should I take it to a Honda dealer and have them run a diag?
Sorry for the language, dumbass drivers with no respect to another **** me off too much.

I am assuiming that flap you are talking about was the throttle body?
To be totally safe, you need to get that water out of there at all costs. You can, and will, hydrolock your motor and possibly bend a rod like that.
Best of luck to you man. Becaus I have never had to do this before, I have no real suggestions except for taking the throttle body off and stuffing a rag in the manifold and sponging the water out if it is still there.
But if you have since started it up and it ran fine, then you should not have much to worry about. Just pull the plugs and see if they are wet at all.
I would not want to take it to Honda, unless you want to pay out the *** just for them to tell you what is wrong with it. Take it to an ASE certified mechanic and have them look at it.

Re: Water in the Intake (.Red.EM2)
I pushed the car in a car repair lot, mechanic their siad I wouldnt need to worry about hydrolock, the thortle body had a few drops of water inside, he said that running it will dry it all out and visualy it all dried out.

Re: Water in the Intake (Killtodie)
Well, update.
Headlight didnt burn out. guess what happend is that the HIDs light up and eveporate the water and cause steam and that shorts them out. I took the bulb out, let it dry for like 30 minutes, put em back in and they work fine now.

Re: (Curiouz_G)
no, its $75 PER BULB!
anyway, its workng on and off. as soon as it gets dry i'll stick a hair dryer in there and get the moisture out.
