Need Help with CEL code
Just bought a 01 Civic about a month ago. Got a CEL code of P1456 which is EVAP Emission Control System Leak(Fuel Tank System). Can anybody point me to the right direction to what dat mite mean. Thanks
Make sure your gas cap is sealing properly. If it's defective or has a worn/cracked seal, replace it.
If that doesn't make the CEL go away, you'll need to test the EVAP canister purge valve, EVAP bypass solenoid valve, EVAP canister vent shut valve, and or check all of the vacuum hoses to make sure they're connected properly and not cracked, split, etc. Parts to check for leaks are the gas tank, gas cap, fuel fill pipe, fuel tank vapor control valve, fuel tank vapor recirculation valve, fuel tank vapor recirculation tube, fuel tank vapor signal tube, fuel tank vapor control vent tube, FTP sensor. Repair or replace any leaking part(s).
I recommend buying a Helms manual if you need to do the testing. (unless you want to pay someone to test them for you)
