Jacking for tire rotation -- basic question
To this point, pretty much fanciest thing I've done with my car is add wiper fluid. I need to rotate my tires, and figured that sounds easy enough. I have an '02 dx sedan.
The owners manual points out the pinch welds as jacking points. But I need those for stands, so have to jack from something else. I've searched around for recommendations and come up with a couple candidates; I thought I'd ask what you thought of these just to make sure I don't screw something up. I'm primarily concerned about the rear point.
Front: the subframe, from what I can tell (like I said, I don't know my way around cars well):

Back: whatever this is:

use the tow hook to raise both tires at the same time the front also has a central jack point you can see them here.

OK, so I tried that and there's a problem: I have a crappy jack, and it doesn't have enough lift to get the rear wheels off of the ground. I'd guess it needs another 4" or something. What are my options?
Piece of 4X4 on top of the jack. Or you can get a 2 ton aluminum jack with plenty of lift at Harbor Freight for about $70. The steel ones are even cheaper but, are a bitch to pick up.
