Default intake question

for the intake, if i was to buy one off of ebay, it does not come with teh sensor plug, is it required to have it on, because i just bought one and it does not have an intake in it at all, and my check engine light is on. i think it is because of that

am i correct?

also does that sensor need to be pluged in?

Default Re: ► 2001-2005 Civic (Coupe and Sedan) FAQ's

For an aftermarket cold air intake, you have to take the little IAT (intake air temperature) sensor out of the stock air filter housing (rectangular 7 screws on top). It's located INSIDE to the far right (next the right of air filter). It looks like a mini pointed black small pencil? Hard to describe, anyhow...disconnect the sensor plug on the right and then pull out the pointed sensor to the left, out of the rubber holder. Your aftermarket intake should have a rubber hole to the right to now plug in your IAT sensor, point it in the same direction as it was before you disconnected it. If it doesn't have this hole on your intake, return it, you're in trouble, and you'll keeping running the engine code.(A haynes manual for your civic/CR-V from Autozone will show you what I'm talking about.) The problem you're going to have is pinching the little gray clip out with needlenose pliers that connects the MAP sensor,IAT sensor, and 1 other sensor together. I had to get mine out of the rectangular silver hole(mounted to the car) and unfasten it so I could stretch the wires 1" to the left to connect it to the intake. Stick your IAT sensor into the right of your aftermarket intake and fasten the stock wire sensor clip back to the newly mounted IAT sensor. Yes, that's why you're getting the engine code. Hope that helps.
