Default Help?

I know close to nothing about cars but I have a 2001 civic that overheated and then wouldn’t start up again once I parked it. I can’t afford a mechanic so I want to try to fix it myself. My uncle says I blew the motor and after a little research I found out that could mean a million different things and I don’t even know where to start. I don’t want to buy a whole new engine if I can just replace a part of it.

If you overheated it bad enough that it wouldn't start again... it is likely more expensive to fix the engine that you have instead of replacing it with a complete salvage yard engine.
