Default Need engine swap help.

Im kind of new to the engine swaps and everything that goes with it.

I have a 1994 integra ls and was driving it to work one day and it started losing power going up a hill and when i got to the top it died on me. I let it sit for a minute and tried to start it again and it didn't start so i let it sit for longer like 10 min still didn't start. Came back the next day to tow it and tried to start it and it started just fine but there was some knocking going on. Called my mechanic and he said it needs a new engine.

So my question is it easier to rebuild the engine or just replace it and if i do replace it if i buy a newer year engine what all do i need to replace with it?

It'll be easier to replace rather than rebuild, especially if you've never done a rebuild before. As long as it's an obd1 B-series you should be able to plug-n-play (Guys, correct me if I'm wrong. I don't want to give out false info).

Good Luck, there's a wealth of information on here. With a little reading you may be able to find your answer pretty easily with the search function.

he can put whatever engine he wants, as long as his budget can support it .

OBD1 B18B is the cheapst you will do coz all you gotta do is get another engine, drop it in and not worrying about the harness, ecu, axles etc etc. he can put a B18C OBD1 but he needs to put in a B18C ECU and harness (i dont know). or he can put a type R and replace everything. like i said, he can put anything he wants in there as long as his budget can support it

you can just buy a new motor my brother got a b20 for his teg and the motor was about 550. rebulding will run you about 1 g taking it to the shop to get it resurface new pistons rods so on so on.

on the replace i dont think you will need to replace any thing. my brother teg is a 90 and the b20 was from a 98 crv every thing bolts right up.

but if you are taking the motor out already may as will get a new clutch for it and if you dont mind spending a lil more money get new motor mounts but your old one will be just fine if its not crack or damage or any thing like that.

Thanks everyone. Been trying to find an engine with somewhat low miles for a decent price and the best i could find so far is a 1998 integra ls engine for 750 with 100k miles on it.
