The K24 has different crank position sensor wiring (reversed) and an entirely different charge harness and ECU connection.

Hi, i was just swapping my 01 civic using a k24 mixed with k20. The head and gearbox belong to the k20 and some internals. Im choosing hondata kpro v3 for the ecu. While dynoing, i found that the vtec was not engaged. But i didnt see any CELs in the first place. The tuner checked and found that the vss isnt responding. Trouble code 16 if im not mistaken. And im sure that the speedo stays at 0 while dynoing. Any suggestion to fix the issue ? I've tried changing the ecu/vss both. Still dead end. Or maybe i should use the emk2 harness ? Anyone facing the same problem before ? Please do share. Thanks.

Your transmission will yield different results depending on what year DC5 you pulled it from. 02-04 is different the 05-06 with regards to the signal from the VSS.

Im using the 02-04 dc5 gearbox. What would be the difference in those 2 production years ?

They're different sensors, all together.

Okay, like i said im using the 03 gearbox to be exact. So why does the speedo and vss not responding to the hondata ? My tuner said the vss is giving signal, but not reaching the ecu. I wonder whats happening and the tuner himself cant figure this one out. Is the k-tuned emk2 harness is going to help ? I was about to buy one but my tuner cant guarantee that it'll work. Thats why i ended up asking so many questions here.
Thanks for your time toyomatt84

ok so my 03 4door is now k24 ready rsx spindles and anti sway bars all around with type s brakes. sitting in the scrap yard is a 4wd k24 crv, is it just a matter of swapping tranys to make it fwd, if so i have access to rsx base model (unfortunately with semi auto box) would this work for now till donner car comes along for head and 6spd swap?

Well, if the VSS is sending a signal, you need to find out why its not reaching the ECU. There's a short or improper link somewhere.

Semi-auto box? What transmission are you referring to? There's an automatic, and a manual option for the RSX.

auto box that has a separate slot for up/down shifts i know it's really an automatic (do we refer to this as honda-matic, sport shift?or just plain automatic?) also are there any other rads that will work(only si's i can find at the moment are 1.7 cdn. version, and 2 rsx's both front end crashed) thanks again toyomatt84

No, that's just an automatic really. And, no, it won't work as a solution temporarily, because it has different mounts and there's no way to tune it, unless you run a completely factory setup (ECU included).

As for radiators, you're looking at DC5 or EP3 for options, sadly.

There are 4 mounting locations that attach the DC5 subframe to the car, that are shared with the EM2's factory subframe.

Yes. The engine mounts on the opposite side of the bay and spins a different direction.

Could someone please update the link to the DIY. The K20/K24 swap URL domain expired and it's no longer online.

As i go along let me know if i missed anything so i can add it in
Also if anyone has some pics i can add then that would help too

UPDATED 3/5/2006

**also note that the same thing applies to people who do the k24 swap. Just remember that if you use a k24 that the tranny side mount is different from the k20 tranny mount. If you already have a k20 in your car and wish to use a k24. Hasport and i think Hybrid can supply only the k24 tranny mount so that way it sits the motor lower so it can fit in our cars

***also note that i did find out that the 04-05 civics have the in-dash c101 clip rewired from that of the 01-03. I am in the process of finding out the solution for you 04-05 owners. If anyone has figured it out please do let me know so i can put it up
Does anyone know the c101 connector pinout for the 04-05 em2 I can't figure out the wiring need help

Last I checked, K24 transmissions are longer than the K20s (Civic Si, RSX) and will not work. Speaking from experience, I wanted to put a TSX transmission in my EP3 and was told it didn't fit.

Edit: Mounts are different on the transmissions.

The casting is also different on the transmission, and won't clear the rail. You'll need a K20 transmission housing at least.

You know, that's what I thought, but I just wrote it off as being not feasible and never remembered why exactly.
