Icon2 compressor issues

I have a 2001 dx Honda civic and the air had went out last fall. The air was not needed and I enjoy having the windows down in nice weather conditions and the heat worked fine for the winter. Now that its hot and my air dosnt work help... so I know little about ac unit on cars or otherwise. I took the car to meineke to be checked out and the tech determined the thermal protector went bad on the ac compressor. The tech jumped something under the hood multiple times before the compressor actuated. I had the system evac and replaced the thermal protector on the on the compressor had the system put on a vac and re-pressurized the 134a coolant. I also replaced the drier and the oil in both. I tried to use the ac and still got nothing but warm air as the compressor will not engage even though the fans come on when the ac is turned on. Is there a way that I can jump the compressor from the relay as I could not find any schematics online or is there any other way to jump it. Could it possibly be a clutch issue and if so how would I go about testing it.
