A couple of days ago me and a friend were racing our cars.( Im not a "street racer" this was a special occasion). Anyway I won 3 out of 3 against my friends ls b18 hatchback using a new clutch technique I've been working on. I just wanted to hear people opinions on the best method of launching in our cars.

I've got a couple engine mods but according to popular belief that shouldnt have made a difference.

Oh and by the way, when many of us say engine mods are useless, it isnt just "according to popular belief". I for one have seen dyno charts from people that have gone to the dyno with I/H/E, PnP head, and VAFC and still not gain 10whp.

hmm... my LS CRX ran 14.5's on street tires... the fastest N/A d17 ive seen around runs maybe 15.5's... did he go straight from 2nd to 5th?

My 91 Si is a low 15 second car with the oem D16a6 motor and bolt-ons.

If your friends B18 is slower than that, he either sucks at driving or has a serious tuning problem.

I'd say 9 times out of 10 he would win. My d17 is pretty quick with just me and my subs in the car. Its when 3rd starts thats his torque usually passes me up. However i got about a one car lead off the line and held it the rest of the way. I'd say it was mostly driving skill thats why i asked about launching.
