your opinion on cf hoods...
I have a 94 milano red gsr. My front bumper needs painting, as well as my hood, and my spoiler. I was just wondering if you think cf looks tacky, and if using a cf hood would be cheaper than repainting the hood?
Where is the cheapest place to get an OEM cf hood?

http://www.jdmhondaparts.com for CF hoods, i've heard some good things about them
you need to have a color scheme going on with your car, you can't have a like a shitty color and try to match it with CF

Here's my milano red civic with a VIS carbon fiber hood, I ******* love it, it looks mean. Btw Reza's wheels are sick, next year those are going on my ride for sure.

what about weight displacement? Wouldnt you want all of your weight in the front of the car since we are fwd cars? Getting a cf hood would take weight away from the front.

If any body shop would charge more to paint a hood than what a CF hood costs, then that shop is a serious ripoff!
Here's my general opinion...
unpainted CF hood for weight reduction on a tracked car
painted CF hood for weight reduction on a car that is occasionally on the track
unpainted CF hood for looks
Basically if you're going to get a CF hood and paint it, why even bother? Just leave the stock one on.

I hate the way carbon fiber looks, makes the car look un-clean. i'll be gettin one in a few weeks, but i'm not putting it on until I get it painted. I have a milano red teg too, and if I were you, I wouldn't do it.

Re: your opinion on cf hoods... (YellowGiser)
99% of the cars on this site with CF hoods are street cars that have passengers in them half the time anyway. The +/-10lbs they save is pointless. They look like an unpainted body panel to anyone who sees the car aside from people who are into imports.
If you have a full interior, AC/PS, a stereo, and your car is not a track car, a CF hood is pointless.
I think of it like clothes...some people just like to look sports-oriented by wearing track shoes and Nike/Adidas/etc stuff. Most people's track shoes never see the track . That's probably half the male population; I don't really see anything wrong with it, although I think it's kinda dumb.

Re: your opinion on cf hoods... (Regal)
I'm surprised MTK hasn't gotten a hold of this thread yet
Personally I like cf hoods
Its much too flashy to have a cf hood on a white or light colored car imo
but I think they look the best on black cars
thats why I bought one for my black civic
Yes its not a perfect match with black but I like the way it looks and thats the only reason I bought one to begin with
