Shift Boot attachment methods?
What are some methods of attaching the top portion of the shift boot to the **** (esp a machined billet ****!)?
I'm looking for a permanent and clean looking way for the shift boot to stay all the way at the top of the shaft, just below the ****.
any hints, tips, advice?
thanks!

well, i have a skunk2 ****, and there is a bolt that is suppose to be underneath it that locks it in place...obviously a shiftboot will not stick up on the bolt, so i put duct tape around it, then keep on moving the shiftboot up, once i realize that i put enough duct tape on the bolt, then i just slide the boot up and it stays in place
sounds dumb, but i wrapped a thick rubber band on the shifter...tight enough hold position, but loose enough to be able to slide it back down. holds the shift boot up tight to my gsr **** and know one even knoes how
lookie, i even made a cut away diagram

the lockin nut is for the shift ****. same concept as locking perches. because if u just thread down a skunk 2, or itr/ctr ****, the shift pattern on top isnt always centered.

Heres what I did.
-Put some weatherstrip (1/2") around the spot on the shifter youd like the boot to stick.
-Slide plastic console with boot over the shifter and below the weatherstrip.
-Pull the console up enough that you can see and work under it but not too far that the boot goes above the weatherstrip on the shifter.
-Take the outer circle (opening) on the shiftboot and pull it under about 3/4" (this is so you can actually keep it attached)
-Pull the top of the shift boot to the bottom of the weatherstrip.
-take a ziptie and tighten it over the opening of the shift boot on the top on the weatherstrip
-pull boot snug
Weatherstrip helps give the ziptie something to hold onto and looks clean in the small openings between the boot and shifter
