I dont see your point.
Vents = breather? Of course oem wouldnt have them the fluid is getting pumped around the system under pressure...

the fluid needs to be able to circulate from one side of the rack to the other. if its blocked off, there is no way for it to circulate.
lke i said before, i doubt all of the realtime racing dc5's and tsx's would use the loop/brether if there were no point or if it wasnt reliable

Re: (SHG_EasyE)
I need a recomendation for a cleaning product for my engine bay. They guy who owned my car before me had it undercoated, and when I got it they had gotten the undercoat rubber all over in the engine bay. What's a good cleaner to to scrub that off with? Some places its kinda gooey, and someplaces it's dried. I know it sucks that it's like that, but it's a totally rust free ef in WI!

Re: (SHG_EasyE)
The rack needs the fluid to be recirculating as seen in the Honda Tuning issue. The only reason why it recirculates is to lubricate the rack and pinion. The powers teering fluid also acts as a lubricant so the rack does not seize.

Re: (LFA Squad :: Catfish)
valuble steering rack info
think im gunna loop and breather, im using a clutch fluid reseviour atm, will that allow enough ventilation for the pressure to disperse when turning or should i drill some holes in the lid?
Also does anyone have a pic or can describe what the seam welds should look like before bondo? im really considering doing this.
again, good info guys

we actually tried using the clutch resi on my freind's ek, it tended to overflow when going to full lock really quick, its not a large enough resivior.... i would try something a bit larger, or be careful not to put too much fluid in it.

yeah, we ounted it up to the left of the brake resivior, theres a 10mm hole there already and they line up nicely next to eachother

have any pics? I'm thinking about mounting mine in the cowl where the wiper motor used to be, but I won't be able to see if it gets low...

I think the original vented power steering rack thread here on H-T showed a universal reservoir being used for venting purposes, but he did NOT put any fluid in the reservoir, probably because of those overflow issues you mentioned.
