they are just for looks. over 95% of the people that have them do not use them, or have no need for them

What's the point of the front one if it just bolts to the bumper? ....Wouldn't that just rip your bumper off?

if your asking about mine, its not bolted to the front bumber, but rather bolted to the radiator support.
if you ever get stuck at the track, they will just starp it into anything. its much better if you have something big so its easy to see. (thats why people put big red arrow pointing at the hook).
but most of this hooks are used for bling. and i believed both scca and nasa are phasing out these solid hooks and they would rather see you use a soft tow hook.

yep your right. As of next year NASA will not allow 'any hard tow hooks protruding out of the body'. or something along those lines. the stock ones both front and back work just fine. the only time the front ones get hard to use are if your in the sand.

ill be adding a soft front tow loop soon.

not really feelin this whole tow hook trend to say the least......I dont thing they look good at all nor do I think they are on the "bling" level. Just my $0.02

i would never get one either... i'll just stick to the AAA towing if i need to. whatever though, i guess as long as they feel they need these things then that is all that matters, huh?
