Haha
I'm just having fun with my car.
I've spend less than $100 on everything I've done.
I don't plan on doing anything nice to it because it has a quarter million miles and runs on 3 cylinders half the time.
I'm just saving the money for whatever car comes next.

That's not even "rat rod" or even what the fools in this thread try to pass off as "rat rod," that's just taking a beaten car, painting the sidewalls of your tires white and attaching some **** lights to the front of it.

I don't take my car seriously. it's a family sedan and always will be, so are most cars on here. again I'm just having a bit of fun with it, I agree it looks like ****, and most do. but I like doing it just because it's different. also the title says rat styled, not rat rods. I would call my car more of a rat slow family sedan. your criticism makes me love my car more.

^This is just a shitty Integra on a non-existant budget
^And this is a beat up Civic with a roof rack and some tape on it (neither of which are remotely ratrod)
I'm not completely knocking on this thread idea - I'm just saying that a beat-up car is NOT automatically ratrod status.

just to fill you in.... I spent about 2k on my car to get it to where its at between suspension, interior, wheels and tires, and whatever else is on my list...when i bought it it was a mint condition 95 civic. the paint is perfect on it. there are no rust spots, there are no dings and dents, the floors aren't rotted, etc. I styled my car the way I wanted to. and even though its not quite finished yet, (i need to re-paint the WHOLE car red again.) I feel like its on the right track. With that said, I know this style isn't for everyone out there. that is understandable. I have been in the honda game for ages and i followed alll sorts of fads through the years and I have built cookie cutter cars over and over. But I feel this style is more artistic. You cant just look at it and say, hey thats not like mine and all of my friends. you have to look at it at an artistic standpoint and say, hmm thats completely different from what I have.I could be sitting here making fun of everyone who has rotas, or a lip kit, or cream paint, or sparco seats, or what have you .. but i don't. I have judged shows in the past where I couldn't even tell the difference between a handful of cars. That is killing the car scene. fewer and fewer shows are popping up because people are afraid of being different. Also... I WILL agree that buying a $300 civic that you can put your foot through, slapping a sticker on it and calling it a day isn't cool and should be frowned upon. but if everything on your car is absolutely intentional and you have put hard labor into it and put money into parts, but you have a different style...That is what car building is all about.

Here is the closest I came. But this wasn't done like this to be "cool." It was just a stage in the middle of getting my car's bodywork complete for paint.

Trust me, my car looks rough too. One fender is Duplicolor-spray-painted to match the car, has no clearcoat on it, and has faded to yellow. All my OEM LS web rims have curb rash so bad that they're unfixable, cosmetically, no matter how hard you try. My carbon fiber hood's clear coat is fading horribly, and my bumpers are scratched through to the black plastic all over.
I'm not saying you should have a perfectly cleanly-painted spotless car. My point is that beating it up or having a bad paint job, etc. is not a style and especially NOT a ratrod style or an 'art form' like people claim.
Why not just admit it, like me? You don't have the money to spend or don't want to spend it on making your car look fresh. I'm spending a ton of money on news tires and a major suspension change right now. My car looks beat up, but I don't care because it'll be fun to drive. Point is, I don't claim I made it look that way as a style!

Re: Let's see those rat rod styled Hondas/Acuras
You have a lot of valid points here. and I respect everything you just stated. honestly, yes, the tape is intentional. they are brand new lights that I just took the shrink wrap off. gay or not, I liked it lol. the black body parts, that wasn't so intentional, I got in a minor accident over the winter and Im about to paint the car all red. My car is in no way a rat rod per say. but I am working on getting it styled like one with subtle things here and there. like the head lights and such. on the interior i have a wood grain dipped dash bezel, wood steering wheel and wooden shift ****. The seats are going to be swapped to old school GTI seats and the door inserts are going to be made out of burlap sacks lol. So basically everything will be cleanly done, but the parts used will be a little weirder than normal.
