Yeah, you insert them to where the hood bolts to the hinges (or whatever you want to call them). Supposed to help keep things cool under the hood.

what's jdm about putting red rims on old *** economy cars or hooking up old gay *** corrollas and loosing control down hills? It's what they do in japan... just like making their hoods fit shitty... and unlike those cute little orange socks we put on our m/c's, or those crooked (shitty fitting) options stickers, this has a function

Happens with a lot of stuff. Take canards. They're meant for the track junkies, but people put them on their bumpers just for aesthetics. I don't really mind until some show car owner with canards starts talking about how they're there for downforce and all that ****. Then it's like, "Yeah, okay. . . ."

its not really JDM...

its actually an old hot rod trick to help vent some heat from the engine bay.

JDM? Wow people dont know much do they.

It was used back in the day where extra heat would kind of get 'pushed' out of the bay and out towards the windshield and gone.

IMO that doesn't look "dope"... it looks like a poor fitting hood thats a target for thieves... it just gives them a handle...

I can see how it would help(im always down for a cooler engine bay)...BUT, then what about rain or car washes? At speed i dont see it being a problem. And i agree with some of you that it does make a perfect fitting hood look bad. It's interesting, Im looking into it and other ways to accomplish the same effect.

And NO i dont believe it to be JDM if all it is is washers or bearings!
