i just got a used VIS cf hood with pins. nice condition, but the hood wont close all the way! it will latch, and then it wont close. so it looks like its popped all the time. i dont know why. im starting to think maybe thats why it has the pins.

anyone help? please!

 

try pushing down harder right at the hinge.

thanks! i thought my intake was in the way, and it still didnt fit. so i got mad and pushed really hard.

and how do i adjust the hood latch, i need to make it higher so its not so hard to close

 

There should be 3 10mm bolts. Mark where the latch is right now and after loosening them, adjust according. Use the marking as a reference point.

 

the hood is kinda dull in the middle. where can i take it to make it look brand new. i put meguiars scratch X on it, and then some gold class. but its still dull.

maybe a good buffing? or do i need it clear coated?

Probably needs to be buffed.

Try toothpaste for scratches on the hood. Works great.

 

good buffing eh. it kinda looks like i left wax on the hood or something. just really dull. i searched for this, and people said that i have to get it clear coated. ??

its not dull all over, just in the middle

 

Try buffing it but if it does not work then clear coat must be done. I might cost a lot and might not be worth it in the end.

I would look at it this way:
1) paint it
2) sell it and get a new one.
3) make the current one look nice

 

i dont know how much i can get for it.

it has thin cracks around the hoodpins, maybe 1 or 2

 

put super glue in the cracks.

 

you can see the cracks, you cant feel them. its a VIS hood. very sturdy.

and it came with Nokya hood pins that are supposed to mount into the holes on the radiator support. but it didnt come with the other stuff. it just came with the pins on the hood. anyone know where i can get the other part that i need for the hood pin to work. or do i need to buy a whole new assembly?

 

to get the dull spots out yer going to have to ge it re-clear coated...buffing isnt going to do you any good

 

how much is new clear coat?
