Re: Head Light Convertion (tei344)
Keep in mind there are a bunch of aftermarket headlights for civics that may suit your tastes. I remember about 6 years ago, when aftermarket headlights were just coming around, they put out poor light compared to OEM's.
To answer you original Q, 97+ eclipse headlights looked nice on an Integra I saw in a magazine.

I reccomend you spend that money on an HID kit or aftermarket unit. There are many good looking stock fitment headlights out there. TYC has some good 1 piece sets. Check em out.

For a civic, s14s look good. Some might call rice but hey its your taste, if it makes you happy then im cool with it. I dont judge like that. I think it can look good if done right.

TYC OEM replacement headlights
OEM housings (the black part that holds the headlights because the TYC ones sucked)
E55 Bi-xenon projectors
BMW shrounds
Matsushita ballasts

H4 Harness

This is how one guy did his retrofit, most tend towards projector conversion units and then swap the projector for something better (s2000, TL, TSX, ect)

Not really. It depends on the housing. For example, the E55's seem to pretty much drop in to Mazda3 housings, but a lot of cheap crappy ebay projectors don't switch out for something.
Most people just bolt the projector itself to the halogen headlight reflector. It's stronger that way, and you retain factory adjustment.

Please give this a look and read up on retrofitting in the University section.
Yes not everybody goes the route of using aftermarket projector conversion units, this was just an example of what people do. I've see retrofits using the oe lights, using aftermarket conversion lights and I saw a guy who did custom 90mm hella units (since they are mostly sealed units) with a simple plastic lens from a headlight to cover the lights from rocks and what not since the OE headlights were simply too small to have a projector mounted inside of them.
EDIT!!!
HERE is an article in HondaTuning that shows how to do a retrofit (into an EG), the article is scanned page by page so the words are almost unreadable but you can still see how the step by step process looks.
