Flat Black Paint
I did a quick search on this and didn't come up with anything. My friend has this beat up, rusted Jetta and during the summer he wants to paint it flat black by himself, kinda like the STi in Sport Compact Car. But in SCC they didn't really address HOW they did it. Has anyone ever done this before? From SCC I know we'll have to sand it down and use a thick rust proof kind of paint. But other stuff like how to sand it, time between coats, how many coats, stuff like that we really have no clue.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Re: Flat Black Paint (jdmgoldcivic)
nice! It looks pretty smooth, considering the salt and all.
You used primer, so how far down did you sand? Just removed the clear coat or all the way to the primer?
the hood scoop looks pretty cool too

Re: Flat Black Paint (NunChukaKata!)
i shaved off the side moldings and had some other body work to do on the car. So pretty much the whole car was sanded down to metal.
