Is the center peice of the MR5s removeable?
I would assume so, since it appears to be bolted too the outside of the rim.
What I'm thinking about doing is buying a set of 15" MR5s, unbolting the centers, and getting them powder coated red. I would pollish the outsides, and them bolt them back on.
What do you guys think?
oh, and heres a pic of what they would be going on (it would be slammed of course on D2 coilovers):

yes its removeable but i dont think anyone knows how much torque too torque down the bolts after installing them. u can try it and use loc tite. but i think u should leave them the way it is and just polish the lip

ummm , your motor is balanced and torqued from the factory. people still unbolt and do everything to their motors..
ive done it before, pain in the ***. but will come out way nicer. loctite is your friend.

Totally, but I'm still not sure if I wanna go red.
Ever since I bought this car, I've had an on going debate about the wheels I'd like to get for it...
Its a toss up between, Black RotaXs, Red MR5s, Black MR5s, White MR5s, or some old school JDM mesh.

But the last time I built a motor I was able to use exact torque specs when putting everything back together. Hardware is also not a problem in that case. Where can you find exact factory hardware and torque specs for MR5's? Plus, if your motor blows you have less of a chance of accident than if your wheels go bad. Apples and oranges...

I would think...that if you just torqued them all the same specs, with red loctite it would be fine. Theres not much force on them considering theres like 20 bolts. And for all the bolts to come out at the same time...kinda unrealistic.
