BYS replica lip...
Hey guys, this is probably a dumb post to most of you, but....
I just bought a BYS replica lip from a friend for my eg. Brand new, $20.
But I have no idea how to install it.
There's all these brackets and what not for under the bumper.
Can someone PLEASE help me out here? Pictures, etc.

Have you removed the front bumper and looked at the bottom side yet? That's a good place to start. It's simple problem solving usually.

Re: BYS replica lip...
brackets?? wtf, is there an old lip on the car? take off all those 10 or so bolts of the lip, and put the new lip where the old one was and bolt it back up.
you don't have to take off your bumper to put on a lip.
****ing noobs on h-t!

Once the bumper is removed you can take your time and mount it to perfection!
Beats having the car lifted on jackstands, dirt and other debris falling in your eyes while fvcking around with zipties and such to keep one side from falling while attempting the mounting on the other side...

Re: BYS replica lip...
I have the sides attached, but there are five metal brackets and various screws for the bottom that I just don't understand how to attach.
If I had a picture of one installed, I'm sure I could figure it out easier.

take the bumper off, which you done
bolt the sides, which you done
the 5 brackets, there a hole for each one, screw one side to that
and the other to the bottom of the bumper, its like a support to hold it up

Re: BYS replica lip...
Yes, except for where the bottom attaches. I don't have those pieces that stick out.
Mine is straight across with 5 little holes drilled in it. But I guess that's why I have the 5 metal mounting brackets?

Re: BYS replica lip...
This one is a fiber glass one. It has better fitment and easier to install, but breaks easier.
The one he is talking about i believe is Polyurethane. Really flexible but needs brackets to install.

Can you take pictures of your lip and the brackets? Are the brackets not attached to the lip yet?

Re: BYS replica lip...
the bottom holes use the rivets and the top holes are supposed to use the screws but i doubt that will work. lol. so use the rivets on the bottom and go to lowes/homedepot and get some bolts and nuts and big washeres lol.
hope this helps
or you can go to lowes/homedepot and try to find some brackets that look like this. (these are oem but you can find similar at the store. be creative )

^ Like He Said ^
Go to a hardware store and in the automotive nuts and bolts bins you should be able to find these U-shaped clips. Find the correct size to fit your bumper tab/hole openings along the bottom of the bumper. You'll also need a bolt and washer combo that fits that u-clip. So yeah...them brackets should probably get riveted to the lip then the bracket angles up and rests against the bottom of the bumper and that is where you put your bolt thru the u-clip and bumper. Clear as mud?

Thanks for all the help you guys.
I finally got that thing attached to the bumper. What a pain in the ***....
Fitment isn't perfect, but I got it to where it looks pretty good.
