agreed... there is no NEW information. this is a appears to be another complete waste of time.
SOME CARS will experience quicker than normal wear. Mine has NOT, and it appears that the of owners majority of the hundreds of thousands of units sold have NOT experienced this.
It's not a design issue(the brake design have been used for decades). It's a consumable issue, if your car experiences this... in good faith honda will usually compensate you for this pad replacement.
this is an informational and technical Honda appreciation forum. Not a woe is me, cry on my shoulder because i had to change my brake pads Blogging forum.

Re: 2008/09 Accord Brake Problems
i have 28k miles on my 08 coupe. I have pics of my brake pads within first month of ownership & up until just yesterday. There appears to be no noticeable wear of any kind. I do drive 99% highways & as sensibly as I know how, so I am an example of Under-wear on a car. regardless, my brakes are wearing just fine. I do agree they are the weakest brake system I have used in any car I have owned, but nonetheless adequate since I rarely find myself driving the car past 6/10.

Re: 2008/09 Accord Brake Problems
we get complaints about the 09 accord front pads aswell. they have the brake groan noise kind of like the 06 ody's had. we actually have found by putting 07 accord pads on fixes it. or sometimes we just replace the pads and resurface the rotors under warranty or goodwill as stated before. it all depends.
and yes honda does not have a s/b out yet on it

I found this on another forum.
''The new issue of Motor Trend devotes two paragraphs on the accord premature brake wear'' http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ict/index.html

Re: 2008/09 Accord Brake Problems
Tech line told us the other day they should have a fix for the issue the beginning of the new year.
So hopefully the come up with something to fix it.
Which down here (South GA), we have alot of people complain about front brake noise.
The rear brake issue, we seem to think that it has to do with how hard people brake at times

It seems to me that we should've just picked a different compound for the Accords, front and rear.

Re: 2008/09 Accord Brake Problems
I have an '08 Honda Accord. At 35,500 miles I started hearing a metal "rattle" in the back driver wheel. When I took it to the dealership, they said all 4 of my rotors needed turning and all new break pads (all 4 wheels). It was not even a full year old yet (I do a lot of highway driving). Now, flash forward 1.5 years, I am at 71K miles and the noise is back. Today, my mechanic (did not go to the dealer again, for obvious reasons) tells me that my rear brakes are completely shot. I have to have the calipers rebuilt because they can not find non-Honda parts, the inside break pads are gone (metal to metal) and the outside ones are bad, but still there. Telling them that the caliper isn't retracting all the way. The best part is that after the first turning by Honda, I am at 12/100ths of tolerance, and they can not be turned again. In addition, they can not find the hose anywhere but at Honda. So, first break job cost me $500 for all 4, this job is going to cost me about $900. The car is 2.5 years old with 71K miles on it. I would say, there is a problem. Oh, and that metal rattle noise that Honda charged me a "diagnostic fee" for, well...according to Honda it is an indicator noise (and yet no ASE Honda Mechanic-we asked 3 of them- could identify it without tearing apart the breaks to see if "maybe there was a rock in there" so I wonder just exactly who that noise was indicating too?)

Re: 2008/09 Accord Brake Problems
Shana, first you do realize you've posted your questions to a two-year-old thread?
What you described isn't unusual. It has been the subject of a class action lawsuit. I recommend you contact the "Honda Rear Brake Pad Settlement Administrator," P.O. Box 2322, Faribault, MN 55021-9022 regarding your brake (not "break") repairs. You may be eligbile for a partial reimbursement for your initial expense (up to $150) as part of the class action settlement. You also may be eligible for a partial reimbursement (also $150) for your current situation. In this regard, keep your letter of explanation short, state the year of your Accord and the chassis number, and include copies of your receipts in your first correspondence. The response you receive will explain whether you are entitled to compensation for your expenses and what you need to do to document them.
Now, regarding your current situation, based solely on what you've described, it's likely you need to have your brake rotors (two in the front, two in the rear) and your brake pads replaced a second time. Honda has engineered a set of replacement brake pads (and a spring clip) to address the problems you've experienced. The replacement pads have not solved the problem entirely, but they will significantly extend the service life of your rear brakes. (The correct replacement pads are part # 43022-TAO-A40; not A00, A51 or A70, which were superceeded.) In any case, the dollar amount you were quoted is excessive. Also, I doubt that you need to have your brake calipers rebuilt. That would be very unusual for a Honda Accord with only 71K miles. Either your mechanic is taking advantage of you, or he doesn't know how to retract the pistons in the brake calipers. I suggest you discuss your situation with your Honda dealer first, and if you are still not satisfied, find a different independent shop to do your repair work.

Re: 2008/09 Accord Brake Problems
Honda covered the expense of replacing the rear pads, but I ended up changing all 4 rotors, and pads at 35,000 miles. Cost me about 1,000 - the 150 that Honda paid.
I'm still disappointed because I didn't expect that from Honda.
To bad my car was totaled.
*I had a 08 V6-EX-L w/nav.
