I recently got a 2005 Accord Hybrid which didn't come with a spare, to save a little weight apparently. The Canadian models did and in the Owner's Manual it says it came with a 15" compact spare. Since I have to go out and get one anyway I would like to get a 16" if it will fit in the trunk well. Anyone know if a 16"x4" spare would fit?

I don't have my 06 anymore, so I can't recall how much room is there. Using my 10 as an example, it looks like I can fit a bigger spare tire. However, there are padding/support that holds it under there, and I'm not sure how that will rub. Or push your trunk floor up and create an uneven surface. If you were just to throw it in the trunk, then any size would do.

The OEM Gen 7 is 15" so I would go with 15" instead of 16". The spare tire is not like a regular tire where you have a selection of profiles and widths to try and make it fit. If they do, I would imagine it be hard to find.

I had done a search on car-part.com for the spare and when I chose "wheel" a huge list came up - everything from 15" steel rims up to a few 17" wheels! Both 15"x4" and 16"x4" compact spares were listed so I wasn't sure exactly which would be better.

Make sure the bolt pattern will work too.
