I was wondering if there is anyway to install and after market stereo into the head unit or if you can get a new head unit? I know you can install a new stereo underneath but that doesn't look very good in my opinion. Could you maybe even get a navigation system?

The hack jobs you see where a traditional stereo is installed under the current system and replaces the door/compartment are easy and cheap to do which is why they are popular.

Some companies make kits that replace the entire unit and fit without modification. Others have units that require a custom plate. But these are much more expensive.

If you want to build your own custom sound system and REALLY want something special, then look into a complete replacement of the unit.

If you just want to be able to hook up an ipod or have access to more music, you should be able to add an ipod kit through the aux port OR connect a CD changer that has mp3 compatibility.
