Accords are meant to be bought by average Joe's, who don't want a flashy car. I hate the body cladding myself (especially the exhaust crap out back). Sure, boy racers would love it, but they don't usually have the money this car would cost. If you really want one, I'm sure you could have it done, all you need is the $$$$.

Well, they have Civic's that cost over $30k, Accords costing around $40k, S2k's costing about about the same. I can see them putting this as a limited edition top of the line Accord, throwing in a supercharger, some Mugen emblems (maybe even some actual parts) & a $45k-50k price tag... I think it would sell, it would definitely draw attention...

It would never sell in sufficient quantities to be worth the research. That kind of car isn't really what the Honda Accord is generally about.

Honda in North America doesn't even have corporate access to the Acura six cylinder Torsen axle that would be required. That'd take a lot of negotiating and a refocus of corporate missions, and I just don't see that happening.

G is Correct, that coupe would be a business loss for Honda. To me, that car looks exactly like the current Coupe save for the visual items/dress up. Even the current 6-6 is not a big money maker for Honda, Specially when you look at the production numbers. I have been told that the 6-6 has a production cap of 4000 units a year.... Meaning that there may not even be 4000 units total per yearly cycle. That's very exclusive for a company like Honda, and is a small indication that Honda has NOT completely forgotten about us Drivers.

funny you mention that G... when I look up under the rear of the current Coupe, it looks to be set up for a AWD system. Even the exhaust tunnel seems to be WAY oversized.

Yup. The expected production of the TL SH-AWD 6-6 will be even less. They say they'll be surprised if they sell more than 3,000.

Their expectations for the Accord and TL are based on what they sold of the G7 and G7A 6-6 Accord Coupe, and the extremely limited numbers of G7A 6-6 Accord Sedan made for the 2006 and 2007 model years.

Everybody talked them up, but nobody actually bought them except for weirdos like me. :-)

Yes, you're right. Same thing with the latest TSX redesign.

But so far, SH-AWD and Torsen axles are not available to Honda in North America. It's probably Acura exclusive for a while longer.

This is a very elegant Accord. However, as others have mentioned on this thread, Honda will not market this car in the US. It would counter intuitive: the investment necessary to get this car into production would most likely surpass revenues from this car. However, Volkswagen did this with the Bugatti Veyron so they could demonstrate to the world what their engineers were capable of accomplishing. Ultimately, who knows. Maybe Honda will go after the ISF or M3, S4, or C Class AMG?

But that would put Honda out of the correct class range; I would assume they would want to assign Acura to pull off a competitor to BMW or Audi.

I really like the look of this Accord, and if it had a SH-AWD system, it'd make a great competitor to a bunch of higher-end cars. Lighten the model up a little, and you've got my full attention.

All I can think of though is that there'll be cruddy body kits based on this design on the market soon enough.

I see what everyone is saying about it not being cost effective. But my question is more of a why doesn't honda (or other car makers) partner with aftermarket shops or in house aftermarkets (i.e. HFP or Mugen). I'm mostly talking body kits & bolt on's here. They basically did that with the Mugen Civic a couple years ago, not sure if it's still an option to buy a Mugen Civic from the Honda dealership. But you see my point. I just think that HFP could offer many more bolt on upgrades. I guess I'm bias, I just really want to see a 300+ hp Accord come from the factory... I know.. I'm unreasonable.. haha

redhonda makes a good point because if its a limited run of say 3000 units than it would be manageable for an aftermarket partner and a significant way to boost its production.

Im definitely a fan of limited production parts because its fun collecting and trading for different offerings many of which usually stand the test of time very well.

this should be the next Acura CL and CL-S.

make it lighter & more luxurious, RWD, 320+ hp, .. $33,500-$41,000...

It can compete against the Infiniti G37 coupe and BMW 335i coupe..
