Thud from P to R shift..
Hello all,
First post here.
I have a 06 Accord coupe v6 AT. I've noticed when I shift from P to R, I hear thud noise as the transmission shifts.
Scenario: car is parked in driveway. I have to go somewhere. Ignition on, press brake pedal, press the AT shift **** from P to R and "thud".
I do not hear the thud when it shifts into other gears.
Why is this anyone know?

nah.. i think its b/c you are parked on an incline or decline, what i normally do is put the car to neutral, pull the hand brake and turn off the car, then shift it to park. otherwise, you stress the parking gear and its hard to get out of that gear on an incline/decline. try that out, if thats not the case then maybe its the mounts

It does this in my 2010, and also did it in my 2004. Both AT. Pay attention to the exact circumstance you're hearing it in. I only ever heard it when I was shifting from P to R on a decent incline. It's a matter of how much you're applying the brake to hold the wheels in place while the car is shifting gears. When on an incline it can be difficult to FULLY apply the brake and so the car sort of "pops" into gear as the car wheels slightly roll downhill. You can usually actually feel that slight motion too. Unless it's a BIG thud, IMO this is probably what you're experiencing
