Is there a known problem with spark plugs coming loose on cylinders 5 and 6?
I recently had a spark plug come loose on my 7th generation 2005 Honda Accord V6.
It melted the threads off of one half of the spark plug tube. The ignition coil and the spark plug melted into a molten mess. Thankfully I was able to get the threads repaired instead of having the head taken off. The plugs were original.
A Honda tech told me that the plugs coming loose is a known issue with cylinders 5 and 6. I searched ALLDATA for a TSB but couldn’t find anything. In any event, it took about $1200 to get the car going again.
Given what the Honda tech told me, I’d like to know if this really is a known issue and whether there’s any documentation to that effect that I might be able to find.
Have any of you had the same experience with a Honda V6, or with this engine in particular? Is there any Honda documentation on this issue that you know of?
Thanks in advance.
