Default Newbie Suspension Questions

Hi All,

As my questions will attest, I haven't much knowledge of auto suspension. All I know is that I want a sportier more stable ride in my 2008 Accord V6. I was looking at the Eibach 4082.140 Pro-Plus kit and some Koni 8041-1406's/1407's. My goal isn't as much to lower the car as it is to get a firmer, more stable ride. Can a set up be had where the car isn't lowered by the inch spec'ed by Eibach? I'm also confused by the term "coilover". Isn't my choice of lowering springs and shocks a coilover system or am I missing something? It's probably the latter I'm sure.

Check out the HFP suspension - I know it is available for the coupe (if you have that)

~$900 per Honda's website for the 2011 Accord, which should be identical to your 2008.

The Sport Suspension Kit components lower the Accord Coupe approximately 1".
Provides a firm, aggressive driving experience.
Still maintains a comfortable level of handling on streets and highways.
Kit consists of shocks, struts, and springs.

HFP is also a direct fit on the Sedan. Just make sure you get the one for (V6) AT. The total weight difference is only 60lbs. Most likely in the rear.

on 19s.

on OEM 17s.

Whoa! I wanted to go 19's but didn't know how it would look. That looks sweet! I'm confused about the sport suspension kit. Is there actually a kit for the Accord Sedan or can the one for the coupe be used?

This is one of those backwards Japanese thinking, like why would someone drive a truck daily. Trucks are meant to work, and carry pigs on the back to the saluter house. That's why it took so long for Toyota to get the Tundra "right." And some still consider it not "real" truck. **Off my soap box**

Honda HFP suspension for the Accord is only for V6 Coupes. It is not for the Sedan, because Coupes are for performance. Sedans are to carry grandma to the Shinto temple and wife to the fish market. However, Accord suspension parts between coupes and sedans are the same.

So the HFP suspension for the Coupe (as listed by Honda) will fit the Sedan, with no issues, or any ill effect, and very OEM-like (firmer of course) in feel.

There are no HFP suspension listed for the Sedan. Again, Honda don't think people who buy sedans like performance or spirited driving.

There are two versions of the HFP suspension. One for the V6 Manual. One for the V6 AT. The HFP suspension one should get for the Sedan is the one for the AT V6 Coupe. Why? Because the AT version of the coupe is closer in weight to the Sedan.

Do you think I'd need a camber kit with the HFP suspension upgrade?

You don't "need" it, but I've seen many 8th gen owners use it.

Megan makes a one-arm camber kit for $100.

(the link is not the right one, but you get the idea).

You spent $25,000 -$30,000 on a car (not sure if you bought it new). Now HFP suspension. So what's another $100....
