Post New Member - Interested in Honda Accord

Hi everyone. I currently have a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T. I'm looking at getting a Honda Accord 2005-2006 as a daily driver. I see there are tons of models available (LX, VP, SE, EX). Ok, four isn't a ton What are the main differences between these models? I'm not concerned about horsepower but am looking at best mpg. I'm afraid the Civic might be too small of a car for me.

I'm looking at getting the manual transmission just because it would be more fun to drive (and the mpg should be higher).

Thanks for the input!

The auto's are rated at getting high mpg than a manual

You already have the nice car, so I'm assuming you're going for a beater. I'll cast my vote for a 05 LX coupe 5 speed. That gives you a lot of power features (power windows, cd player...) and a lower cost.

They're just trim levels. In terms of equipment, from fewest features to most features, the lineup is DX > VP > LX > SE > EX > EX-L. For 7th-generation Accords, the VP and SE were only available in 2006-2007.

4-cylinder trims all shared the same 2.4L engine for that particular generation. The most common trim levels are LX and EX; the LX is equipped with power windows, power locks, keyless entry, air conditioning, a CD player, ABS, steel wheels, and rear drum brakes. EX adds rear discs, alloy wheels, a moonroof, powered height adjustment to the driver's seat, and a 6-CD changer. EX-L adds leather upholstery, automatic climate control, and a fully power adjustable driver's seat, with a navigation system as optional equipment.

The SE model is essentially an EX without a moonroof.

Check here for full equipment listings: http://automobiles.honda.com/certifi...l-library.aspx

I'm afraid the Civic might be too small of a car for me.
If you haven't actually driven a 2006 or newer Civic, I'd highly suggest doing so before making such a declaration. A modern Civic has grown to the size of an '86-89 Accord and is well-equipped.

The current Civic is a piece of garbage. I wouldn't sell one to my worst enemy...

You didn't see me recommend that car either. I would drive a car like redneck dave's any day though.

Maybe he is tired of 15 MPG and pushing 4100lbs all over the place. Gas $ is going up again, and the Hemi drinks 89 at min.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm looking for a daily driver that gets good gas mileage. I currently have a 1998 Olds Aurora that isn't doing so well and needs replaced. I want to keep the miles down on my Charger by getting another car.

Thanks everyone for the info. This definitely helped!
