New guy here - Question about my factory 17" wheels. (can I go smaller?)
Hey folks,
Quick question. I have a 2007 Accord SE V6 Sedan. I love the car but hate the wheels and tires.
My wife has an '03 Accord with a 4 cyl. which has steel wheels and wheel covers. This thing drives way better than my car because of the fact that it doesn't have low profile tires and 17" wheels.
I live in Ohio and our winters (especially this one) sorta suck. We also have lots of pot holes.
The 17" wheels and low-pro tires are good when dry but when wet or snowy I'm not happy with them.
Do you think there is a place that I can go to get smaller wheels with a higher profile tire? I was thinking maybe of asking around at some of the dealerships and seeing if any of the mechanics have some wheels and tires they would trade me straight up for.
I just wondered if anyone else here has experienced this issue and if so how have they dealt with it?
I just bought this car with 14k miles on it last April. I came from a 2001 Ford Taurus which drove better in the snow but everything else about it sucked.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: New guy here - Question about my factory 17" wheels. (can I go smaller?)
When driving in the winter the factory tires on the 17" wheels are all season tires, and they are not a dedicated winter tire, that is most of your problem. Either way 16" wheels will definitely fit on your application. Just pick up a set of take off OEM 16" EX-L wheels on ebay with like new tires, etc. Entire package will run $500-600 plus shipping, yet they will still complement the vehicle nicely as opposed to plastic wheel covers on 15" or 16" steelies.

Thanks CBL9. You know, I'm not opposed to steelies with plastic covers. I would actually rather run all black steel wheels instead. Sounds crazy I know.

I'm sure, if you ask around enough, someone will be glad to trade you. Most owners can't wait to get rid of the wheel covers.
