A baja bug!!!
my volkswagen motor is too much of a pain in the ***. So i was thinking of doing a j swap. I know where i can get the flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disk and an adapter plate for about $500 new but my question is:
Do you guys think this will be possible? I mean i wont have a BCM (body control modual) to hook the ECU up to. Im also wondering how to go about hooking up some gauges. The motor i have picked out is the J30A4 because i read that it only weighs 250 lbs which is only 70 lbs heavier then my 1.6 liter vw motor.

Any thoughts or suggestions on my project are welcome. This is sill a long way out. I have to box in my frame, make a roll cage, save up about $3k for a transaxle, upgrade my brakes, upgrade my suspension. But im hooked on this idea.

I dont think it should be hard at all as long as you can find the proper wiring harness especially since the throttle body is "drive by wire". As far as the gauges go, you looking the typical oil water gauges??

Im not trying to walk on your intelligence but i dont think there all drive by wire. My moms 04 pilot isnt. as far as the wire harness goes, i would just need to supply the ecu with power and fool it to think there is a body computer right?
