honda accord or lexus
Hi everyone,
I don't know if i should buy 2014 honda accord ex (maybe exl v6) or the 2011 lexus es 350. I like new honda accord, except that I do not like the road (wind) noise when driving on the freeway. With lexus, it gives you a quieter time in the car. Really appreciate for any comments and suggestion. thanks.

ES350 is good but the gas mileage will be less than the I4 Accord, something that is worth considering. I own an ES350 and it is indeed a pretty quiet car with good road manners and power but the fuel economy isn't very good. Isn't the Accord a significantly cheaper car than the ES350?

You could also look at a Nissan maxima or an Infinity G35. Mazda 6. Hundai&Kia probably has some decent large mid-sized/full size car. Or a new Lincoln, those hybrids look nice if you're concerned about MPG

The Infiniti Sucks imo, same with the Maxima. My neighbor has an '06 M35 and I have an '07 ES350, the ES350 is WAYYY better than is M35 is nearly every regard except for the fact that the ES is FWD. His gas mileage is much worse than mine, performance is worse, ride noise is worse, maintenance is worse, everything is worse. The 'worst part of all, his was $40K MSRP and mine was $40K MSRP but mine is the Ultra Luxury Edition which is like $10K more than the vanilla ES350.

a toyota/lexus/scion is always gonna be the best car though. Toyota is the world's best manufacturer for good reason.

Well the next step up would have been a GS but that was a $5K more expensive car than the Infinti M35 so the ES350 really was the competitor to the M35 even though I was comparing the most expensive trim ES350 vs. the lowest grade M35. So if you compare the 2007 Lexus GS with the M35, then the GS unquestionably wins in all regards. A V6 Camry SE would actually be a better car to own than the M35 not only in performance but in value too.
About the only feature I care about in the ES350 ultra luxury edition is the Heated/Cooled seats and the rear shade, but that second part is pretty tenuous. I mean the navigation is pretty good (best navi that comes with a car, but still crappy imo) but I think you can get that feature in basically any car Camry or Lexus...

Apples to oranges. You cant really compare an Accord to an ES because the ES is a luxury car.
A fairer comparo would be to compare a TL to an ES.
The new Accord is a great car. So is the ES. Tough call but its really a win-win either way.

IMO that's a good choice Crosstour2. The Camry and thus its chassis partner in luxury trim, the ES350, is a great car.
lol tho, lexus camry. Now the LFA that's a nice Lexus. And the JZ models.

Actually, I enjoy driving on the honda v6 more. It is more fun to drive on the honda than the lexus. But i chose the lexus because the interior and exterior of the lexus is better than the honda. Plus i guess i want to try a new car, i currently driving the honda. Thanks.

2014 Honda Accord is my choice. Like others already said, you are comparing apples to oranges. However, for the same money, I would get the Accord, just because you can buy a factory new car with full warranty. A 2011 Lexus ES is 3 years old no matter how you cut it. Even in CPO, it's still not new.
If we look at both as a 10 year car, Lexus only got 7 years left. True, both cars are reliable, but cars will still need maintenance and replacement parts. The Lexus is 3 years ahead in that cycle.
That may matter when it comes time to trade. Meaning, let's say you want to trade the car in 5 years. The Accord would need nothing. The Lexus may need new shocks, tires, and an alignment. That's could be $3K spent right there.

Re: honda accord or lexus
Ive driven a few Accords and its amazing what a difference it is. Comparing the handling of an Accord and Camry is like comparing F1 to NASCAR and an Accord isnt all that great handling of a car in its own right.
For my money, if you can afford it; the TL would be the ultimate. To each their own though, at least you didnt buy a Ford Fusion...

Cost at a Lexus dealership + tax, etc. That number is not far off. If I'm off by a few hundred or two, there are probably service items that needed too be done too.
The context was, with the Accord, there is a chance that it needs nothing. Maybe not even wiper blades. And consider acceptable in a trade at the dealership or private sale.

As real as realness gets guy, building a new car creates more pollution than any car could ever make (in factory trim). New cars = more pollution, not less.
I feel bad for driving a civic with an emissions/oil burning problem. But not as bad as I would for buying a new car every couple years for life

Re: honda accord or lexus
Your statement is true. The "resources" that goes into building a new car is far "worst" than something that is 10+ years old and perhaps have a larger carbon footprint. And those hybrid and Evs may save gas and polution, but that battery is toxic when it's time to go to the dump.
But that's not how our world works. We drive around without cats, eat fast or frozen food that create tons of trash. And the soap water from our showers goes into the sea. I wish it was different, but what can we do?
