Icon4 Honda Accord Euro 2004 - Temperature Gauge Malfunction

Hi all,

I am a big fan of Honda and recently bought a Honda Accord Euro 2004 with 149000 km on the clock. The seller reiterated multiple times that the car never had any problems. I did a quick test drive on the inspection day. The car was running smoothly and no leakage, noise or other signs of mechanical issues was found at the time of examination. However, I have recently noticed that the needle in the water temperature gauge, which I forgot to inspect, did not move at all after I drove the car for about 20 minutes and I knew there is something wrong. Currently, I have discovered a few things lately which may help confirm the diagnosis:
1. The temperature gauge needle did not move when I first started up the engine.
2. The needle continued to sit at the bottom after at least 20 minutes of driving on a 60 km/h road
3. Needle in the speedometer jerks and is not moving smoothly at the moment.
3. There are fluid on the floor and smell like oil (Potential oil leak somewhere in the car but shouldn't related to the temperature gauge problem)
4. Radiator seems operating normally. (No leakage has been found in the surrounding areas so far; Coolant level is currently full in the radiator; Fans clicked on when the engine reached to a certain temperature)
5. I have been driving the car for more than a week and did not observe any smoke coming out from the engine compartment. Therefore, I believe the cooling system has been working fine and the engine has been properly cooled down while I was driving (I could be wrong though).

Based on the above-mentioned discoveries, I suspect there may be an issue with either the thermostat, the ECU or the ECT sensor. I love my Accord and I really want to get this fixed before my English test on Saturday. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken
