I have a 2004 Honda Accord and approx. 2 weeks ago all of a sudden it wouldn't start. I got a jump and took it to my mechanic who checked the battery and the alternator and said that both were ok. The battery had plenty of juice and the alternator tested out just fine.

He advised me to give him a call back if it happened again. Well it did this afternoon and lo and behold my mechanic is on vacation until the 17th. Help!

After it dies I have to have someone jump the battery off and then it runs fine. Until a random amount og time goes by, a couple of hours or days or this time weeks, and it does it again.

I have checked all of my fuses and they are find and though that possibly I had gotten a bad batch of gas so I had let my fuel tank run to almost empty and next time I fillled up I added some stuff I had bought at a car store to clean out the tank and the fuel injectors.

I am at a loss and at this point think that it might be an oxygen sensor that is going bad or some other computer chip that I can't test.

Does anyone out there have any suggestions on what I can do to troubleshoot this problem and/or what the problem may or may not be?

Not doubting your mechanic, but how old is your battery?

I had "good" batteries - checked by the dealer and died when I picked up the car. BTW, they jumped it and send me on my way. They insisted that it was good because the mechanic checked it.

(I replaced it a week later..ran fine for years back then)

Did he check the Cold Crank Amp on it?

simple problem that ive seen cause alot of headache- Loose battery cables. check those for sure.
