is gumout regane bad for your honda?
just curious. i've used it a few times in my 04 accord k24 and i'm not sure if it's coincidence or not but my engine, in cold weather, on cold start makes a loud clattering or "clacking" sound until the block is fully warm, 10-12 minutes.
i've heard regane can lead to "piston shine" and also may affect the injectors?
anyone have objective reasons why this might be true?

Never use any sort of oil additive or fuel treatment in a Honda. Regular oil changes and good fuel are the best things you can do to your car.
No personal experience with gumout.

Ross, HandAaccessories sells BG 44K online. What do you know about it, if anything? I've used it twice in 72k miles. Nothing was wrong, the engine has always been very smooth, but I figured it wouldn't hurt.

Largely it's snake oil. Every once in a while grandma's car will need a "top engine cleaner" treatment or some premium fuel, but an occasional (or more) lead foot can cure most buildup problems in the fuel system and with carbon buildup.
