clutch or differential?
So i have a 2003 accord v6 6sp, it has 132k on it. I picked it up cheap from a dealership i was working at, i'm pretty sure its had a tough life before i got it.
So the other day I'm on the highway and its as if the car was shifted into neutral. when i'm at a dead stop, it will go into and out of gear without using the clutch, and the vss will register. when i step on the accelerator the speedo climbs.
I'm pretty sure its the differential.. i just wanted to run it all by someone else to make sure my logic is sound. I'm assuming its not the clutch, although its been getting weaker since i bought it (spongy peddle, grabbing higher) B/C it has to be engaging the transmission to spin it so the vss registers, right? Of course it would be awesome if it was just the clutch, but the clutches i have had go out would never let me get into gear with it running from neutral.
There was no previous warning, no previous noise, nothing. Just gave it some gas and heard a gear out of mesh sound and nothing.
thanks in advance for any input
