Re: changed oil in 09 accord
ive never done it on an 09 accord but on the oil cap it shld say what kind of oil it takes, and if you go to any autoparts store they will tell you what filter belongs to the motor. To change oil it shldnt be any harder than any other car, do you know how or wld you like a DIY?

The recommended oil viscosity is 5W-20 for both 4 cylinder and V6. You can use different brands of oil and filter; but, I personally use the OEM Honda oil filters and Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil. Get a new crush washer for the oil drain plug. You may want to buy an oil cap wrench or other type of filter wrench to help remove the oil filter. Reset the engine oil life indicator after the oil change.
If you don't feel comfortable doing your own oil change, you can look for an on-line Honda oil change discount coupon and just go to the dealer, many have the Honda Express Service.

its a washer made from brass (i believe) that is suppose to mold as you tighten the drain bolt onto your oil pan to prevent leaks and you cannot use this washer, i mean you can but its best to use a new time every oil change.

For 2010 a lot of Hondas are going to 0W-20 oil. Most of those have K engines, so you can start using that if you want. Honda is probably going to come down and change the oil requirements for all of those like they did in 06(ish) for the cars that were using 5W-30 and now require 5W-20

Depends on the engines, the filter placement on K engines is horrendous, as for 0-20, mobil 1 makes it, you can buy it at Walmart, hell, why you are there just get them to do it, synthetic oil changes are $55

Re: changed oil in 09 accord
Thanks for that YouTube Vid Hittman!! I had changed the oil on my '09 Accord, (which was HELLA easy by the way even easier than my '95 Integra) but I noticed that the oil life didn't reset and I had no idea how to do the reset. Well, this Vid answered my problem right away!
I just signed up for this site and it rocks b/c I found my answer in less than 5 minutes!!

Re: changed oil in 09 accord
USE ONLY OEM FILTER...
Use Mobil ONe HONDA "OEM" oil. 5w-20
I pursonally wouldnt use 0w-20 oil but thats up to u. Honda only uses 0w-20 on there hybrid vehicles due to engine cleanances. Use the RECOMMENDED oil grade.
Im a technician at honda, fyi, just so u dont think im some ahole giving a no experience opinion.

Re: changed oil in 09 accord
Here is a article about oil filters and their internal makeup.
http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfi...lterstudy.html
It's pretty interesting. After reading this article I started using Puralator Pure One filters. They are about half the cost of a mobil one filter and seems they are just as good. I always use Mobil 1 Synthetic 5qt. bottle from Wolly World for about 22 bucks. Can't beat it. Good luck.
