car shaking when braking
Hi all
I have a 07 honda accord se first of all
a few weeks back (around 7?) and recently last weekend i noticed when i step on the brake my car shakes. the more pressure i put on the brake the more intense the shaking. it's not just slight shaking either, it's like a holy crap it feels like my wheels are coming off shaking (even up to the steering wheel).
both times it lasted maybe 5-10 minutes and then it just went away.
anyone have any idea what might be causing it?

I now this is a forum where we should help folks, but man... are you serious here?
There are several things that can be associated with this shaking. first would be material build up on the rotors, Runout is easily checked. Next would be a more serious loosening of suspension parts. It's going to be impossible to diagnose online, get up under there and have a look around.

could be warped rotors or lug nuts not torqued to spec.
I had the same problem with my civic before, then I borrowed a torque wrench from a friend and re-did my lug nuts to 80 ft pounds, the problem went away completely

Has your car been sitting out in the rain for periods of time without being driven? Rust buildup on the rotors can cause a brake vibration and then wear off after a short time.

07 Accord, less than 12k miles??... Go to the dealership and get a warranty brake rotor resurface..
And if it's due to loose wheels, you'll notice it without having to step on the brakes..
Good Luck..

naw, i drive it often, almost every day.
hasn't been sitting out in the rain for a while.
i was thinking that it was warped rotors also but then wouldn't that cause it to be a constant problem?
it comes and goes, very rarely. it's only happened twice.

Warped rotors some times don't do it as bad after they warm up. Thats how my old Honda is right now although they really aren't that bad. When I've had warped rotors in the past some of them shook really bad. I'd guess thats what it is but I'd also like said check and make sure all your lug nuts are tight.

Re: (stock99si)
if a shop over torques your lugnuts then that can potentially warp your rotor hub, same as if they dont follow a staR Pattern, i would feel your rotors and use your better judgement. unless you do your own work.

COMMON PROBLEM IF you check out the other forums MANY 7th gen accords have this problem. Many have replaced their rotors and the problem comes back in a little while.
ITS THE OEM brake pads. That shaking your feeling is the dust building up.

Well you can go to the dealership and they will do an on-car brake lathe for $250
Or you can do what I did, get some used rotors at the junkyard for $10 and slap em on, solved all my problems very cheap (but i guess it could be hit or miss)
Or take the rotors off, go to pepboys, have them turned for $10

BS.
Ceramic pads best currently.
Akebono original maker and on Japanese upscale cars.
D3EA independent test approved for AC Delco ceramic and my choice.
Honda is fine.
Find out why the pull.
May be more than a rotor turn.
