Bought a New Accord. Back in the Honda Game (lots of pics)
I bought my first new car, a 2009 Accord EX-L 6-Speed. My first car was a 96' turbo GSR, than a 90' Civic STD but I always wanted a RWD so I got a 96' Mustang. Even though it was fun, I got sick of getting pulled over all the time and definitely wasn't the same quality of a Honda so I upgraded from this:
to this:
I picked up up about 2-weeks ago and put a tank of gas through it. I was about 20.8mpg which I know will get a little better but it still isn't great. The only other thing that pisses me off is that they recommend changing the timing belt and water pump at 60,000. I wish Honda would put timing chains on all their motors instead of belts, but I still am glad I got the V6. I'm still waiting for it to break in before I beat the **** out of it.
I plan on keeping the car stock besides eventually a K&N when the stock filter needs to be replaced and maybe a short shifter. Does any companies even make a short shifter for the 6-speeds? I'm also still debating on keeping the Mustang and putting a turbo on it like originally planned. But that's about it. I'll end with the money shot:

Nice ride. I love the new Accords. I see you didnt get it all decked out. Does it have all the options too, not talking about the body kit.
How much did you get it for?

Its the EX-L so the car has everything except the navigation and bluetooth. I already have a navigation and I think the bluetooth sounds shitty so it wasn't worth getting. But no, I didn't get any of the body kit, car bras big wings or mud flaps that they try and sell you.

Re: Bought a New Accord. Back in the Honda Game (lots of pics)
I actually shopped around for a while and had the benefit of not being in a hurry to buy so I was in a good position. I ended up getting the car O.T.D for a couple grand under sticker. Which I was happy with becuase I had a hard enough time finding someone who actually had the car (if a dealer had to order it, it usually increases the price/don't want to lower the price as much)
I got the Honda financing of 2.9% for 36 months for $24,500. The montly payment is horrible but I don't care because I want to have it paid off in a year.

Don't worry about the timing belt/water pump service until 105,000 miles or 8 years.
The 60,000 mile interval is for severe conditions (constant short trips less than 5 miles, constant sub-zero or high temperatures, dusty roads, towing, Canadian climate, etc.). In PA you won't have to worry about that. I've never seen a J-series timing belt break before 105,000 miles.
As far as belts vs. chains, a timing chain isn't as problem-free as you seem to think it is, especially with the Honda chain tensioners that run on engine oil pressure . . .

If its 100,000 than that's a little better. The daily driver Oldsmobile that this car replaced has 270,000 miles on it and still the original timing chain. I still think chains are superior to belts but at least it'll be a while before I need to worry about changing this one if its 100k.

Re: Bought a New Accord. Back in the Honda Game (lots of pics)
i swear i remember the dealer sales guy telling me the use a chain on the new accords.
but it looks like only the v6's are timing belt the 4 bangers are now chains?
because the honda maintenance schedule calls for replacement of tbelt for v6 only..
weird in a way if they coudl do chain for 4's and not 6's.

It looks like it has 2007 Accord 17" wheels. Is that correct?
I have the same wheels on my '07 SE V6 Sedan.

Nice ride. You gotta rock the OEm mud flaps to keep that black clean though. A cheap and IMO beneficial option.

i like the new coupe, but the one thing I dont like about it is how they made it heavier. But yeah your car is totally clean.

Nice. I just bought a 4 door Accord EX, I came from driving a Mazdaspeed 6. I miss it but the Honda is alot better on gas mileage.

Lovely lookin automobile. I would not recommend paying off a depreciating asset, however. Lost opportunity & cost of money factors in paying off a car are too significant to overlook when considering paying off a car to eliminate accrued interest. however, accrued interest on the car does not come close to the lost opportunity on the money you are dumping into the vehicle. Negotiate the best payment & stick with it, no more, no less.

Re: Bought a New Accord. Back in the Honda Game (lots of pics)
I think chipped paint looks better than a car with mudflaps. I wash my car enough to keep it clean.
The first tank I got about 21mpg. The second tank I got 22.8mpg driving it harder. Gas mileage is going up as it breaks in but I think its still shitty for a Honda.
