Accord = TSX = TL

Accord = TSX = TL
Hello,
I'm in the middle of browsing for a new car.
I compared side by side an Accord V6 coupe EX-L 08, a TSX Premium Package 09, and the TL base model 08.
Apart from obvious differences in HP between the Accord and TSX, these cars are essentially the same, even more similar an Accord and a TL.
All cars have pretty much the same features, and differing only in a few small things.
Apart from the luxury name of Acura, in reality, am I not driving the same car with the same features?
Up in Canada, and Accord V6 EX-L will run me about $41k all in, the TSX and and TL will run me $5K to $10K more respectively.
How could I justify shelling out more money to buy a percieved luxury car.
All 3 models look hot, and all offer the same luxury features, all 3 models drive very well....what am I missing???
Please enlighten, thanks!
D
PS I'd like to cross post this in the Acura forum to see what they say too!

They will say it buys you better finishing and higher grade leather etc... not sure I buy that. The Tl and the Accord are essentially the same car... same chassis and undercarriage/sub-frames/engines. you make the choice if you want an acura badge. I would have bought mine either way... but I wanted to save money so its the accord for me over the type S TL. The only thing I wanted from the Type S was the LSD... and I am sure i can just add one to my transmission. The brakes I can do myself and to a higher degree than the OEM brembos

Very nice MSchu. I just put the 09 Accord coupe on my site as a good car to buy. I'm definately looking at one as my new car. Love the red but I think I'm gonna get a black one. Those bronze wheels work well too.

What Suspension do you have on this car or springs or what ever you got on that.

i would also go with the accord. its cheaper and about the same car. You can always add the extra packages and will probably still be cheaper than the acura

I'm still drooling over MSchu's custom setup. Did you go through Truechoice?
Back to the subject at hand. Acura's interior has a better finish and plusher details.
I don't know about where you live, but around here, the Honda reps were more likely to haggle with the pricing. Then again, with the way car sales are going.....

Certainly True Choice would be a serious consideration, but I worked directly with Koni.

Re: Accord = TSX = TL (MSchu)
Massive respect!
Last time I sat in a G8 Accord was at the Honda showroom when they first came out.
It was a sedan with leather and those big semiblack chrome wheels.
And I must admit, it felt more like a Acura. It had more legroom in my opinion (the reason I can't fit in S2000s and lots of fun cars), had pretty soft cushy seats, and the dashboard had the large tach (unlike the semicircle in the G7s). It felt like Honda would not stand to sit second fiddle to the Toyota Camry, so the Accord is equip well.
Furthermore, since I know myself well enough that I can't seem to leave anything stock, I could make up ground with the money I save.
But some people like a great package out of the box and leave it alone. I like to tinker.
