7.5 gen tail lights on a 7 gen?
V6 coupe 6 speed btw.
what is involved with doing this?
trunk, lights?
do they make anything similar to just plug and play?
new to this gen. just looking to update a few exterior quirks.
thanks, matt.

Trunk, light and I would say rear bumper too, just because it looks a bit different so I would guess that it may not align the same.

Re: 7.5 gen tail lights on a 7 gen?
you dont read good. do ya?
i bought the car yesterday, so buying a newer car is out of the question. changing trunk and lights is way cheaper anyways...
i had enough of a nightmare finding a V6 6-Speed model.
i found today that the trunk and lights are all i would need. the bumper changed shape but does not line up differently with the tails or trunk.
thanks for any input that was given.

Re: 7.5 gen tail lights on a 7 gen?
under 1k is hardly enough to buy an 06'
so no, I couldn't have. I got a great deal on my 03'
it would have been nothing less of stupid to finance 3-4k more for tail lights. the logic just doesn't apply here.

I don't think you could do it for less, even if you find the parts at a salvage yard, but good luck. The cost of a new trunk lid, rear lights, rear bumper cover, re-wiring (for tail lights and trunk lid brake light), and the rear quarter panels still probably will not line up right with the different tail lights. It's not as simple as changing a few parts. Even if you do the work yourself, it's going to cost you.

the tail light's changed cosmetically, not geometrically.
a trunk and lights are all you need.
trunk. < $500
lights < $300
rewiring cost nothing.and lights will line up fine with the quarters.
my original question was not about cost or if they would fit, just about what needed to keep everything lined up, which is the 2 parts listed above.
both can be bought painted (not from a salvage yard) for less than 1K.
my trunk's lower lip is folded under a bit and needed replacing/repainting in the first place. which brought upon the idea to update it, along with the lights.
i didnt wake up and decide to change perfectly good tails and trunk. i promise.

Re: 7.5 gen tail lights on a 7 gen?
I've seen one done before, and the tail lights are not the same shape. The 06 tail light has a flat area on top, where the 05 lights are round all the way. If I remember right that is was causes problems with quarter panel and trunk lineing up right. The tail lights on the 06 + tail lights are LED, and the 05 lights are regular bulbs, so is the wiring different? I doubt there are wires for the trunk lid brake light on your car, and I find it hard to believe the 05 bumper cover will line up with the 06 trunk and tails, and actually look right. Have you thought about all these issues, and know how it's going to work out?

the areas where the tails and trunk end at the bottom are no different.
also the quarters are not different. the line changes affected the upper portion of the tails and trunk but both take place after the quarter panel has ended.
the third brake light on the trunk can simply use the wiring from the one on the enterior of my current light.
you can see here how the trunk and tails line up the same with both the bumper and quarters.
the design change only affected trunk/tails.
