2008 Honda Accord Alarm Randomly Goes Off
Hey all, I already did a quick search on this topic and I think I just wanted to see if the info I found is solid..
My friend has a 2008 Honda Accord with the factory alarm system (or it could be the optional alarm package Honda offers... I'm still trying to get her to remember) and last fall her car was involved in a police chase accident while parked on the street. The car was repaired and within the last month or so the alarm has been going off randomly almost every morning, oddly enough it only seems to go off in the mornings around 8:00am or so.. At first I thought it could just be because of random vibrations from other loud cars and what not (the car is parked in a central city location, lots of loud cars/trucks/commercial vehicles) until I learned that the factory alarm should only go off if there is an attempt to enter locked doors.
Basically the info I found seems to tell me that there could be loose wires and what not from the repairs or that there is something wrong with the electronics that control the alarm system; the latter involving unplugging the battery for 10-15 min to fix I've read?
If anyone has insight to add on how to fix this problem or what the possible problem could be I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you for your time,
Shinji

if there is a shock sensor, turn down the sensitivity. there maybe some movement at that time when traffic is highest... either that or someone is setting it off on there way to school

The accessory alarms used to have a sensitivity setting on it. Not sure if it does now. I would check the side of the car that was wracked to see if the door, hood, trunk will set it off if you mess with it.

Like Ross said whatever that opens and closes that was repaired is the first place I would look at, especially fit and finish. If this car was damaged in the front only then I would suspect an out of adjustment hood or a faulty hood latch. The dealer has the scan tool to tell you which area was breached(set the alarm off). This is a very common supplememental claim to the original insurance claim. Damage not caught at the time of delivery. If it is your insurance company, then make sure it is treated as a supplemental claim to the original or otherwise some deductible might now apply. Plus more separate claims = higher premiums.

Thank you very much for all the replies! The car was struck in the front driver side, the front driver wheel was completely removed from the car by the collision and there was heavy front driver panel, hood, and light fixture damage. I will definitely try messing with those areas to see if they set off the alarm and take it to a dealer to get those specific areas checked as well!
Thank you!
