2005 Accord A/C crazy problem
I have a 05 Accord with dual A/C. For some reason, I am getting nice and cold air out of the passenger side of the vents, but warm air out of the driver's side.
Anyone have this problem? Anyone have a solution before I go to the stealership?
Thanks!!

I cannot stand Thelen Honda in Bay City, Michigan... They told me that my appointment was 10:48 AM... Then today my wife calls them at 10:30 to tell them that we are running a few minutes late to but be there as soon as possible. The lady says, well you are already late because your appointment was for 10:30, so you will have to reschedule. WTF!! Have had numerous problems with them, but the next closest honda stealership is an hour away.

The most likely cause is the system is slightly low in refrigerant charge. Most often caused by a leak. Anyone qualified to complete an ac inspection on the car should be able to get you back chilly fairly easily.

I've never heard of appointment times that were that oddball before. I could see 10:45 or 10:50 but 10:48 is a tad exacting and odd.
regardless let us know how it goes man.

Finally got word...they are telling me the compressor is bad. They want $1200 to fix it. I must say, I am very disappointed in this Honda!

Re: 2005 Accord A/C crazy problem
Honda published a service news in July of 2005 explaining the uneven vent temp and the cause. Here is a copy and paste version.
Air Temp From Dashboard
Vents Aren’t the Same
NOTE: This article applies to ’98–05 Accords,
’98–05 Accord V6s, ’01–05 Civics, ’’01–03 CR-Vs,
and ’03–05 Elements.
An undercharged A/C system can cause the air
from the left dashboard vent to be warmer by
20 degrees or more than the air from the right
dashboard vent. If you’ve got a vehicle in your
shop with this problem, see S/B 96-012, Air
Conditioning System Performance Test, and do a
pressure-temperature test. If the pressures are low,
then add refrigerant to get the correct pressures.
The only way the compressor would be the cause is if the leak is from the compressor itself and it isnt leaking at the discharge or suction o-rings. hth

Re: 2005 Accord A/C crazy problem
Wow thanks Cory...they did say that the compressor was leaking freon from inside, so I guess that makes sense. My problem is, this car only has 67,000 miles on it and I have had an array of problems with it. First problem was a rodent chewing threw the wiring harness to the transmission. They refused to cover that with the warranty stating that it was not a manufacturer problem. However they did admit that it was a common problem with Honda's where rodents would do this. My point was that if they put candy coating on wires, it sure isn't the rodents fault.... Next problem was the moon rood exploding for no apparent reason...and the list goes on.
I really like the car, but am not happy at all with Thelen Honda in Bay City, Michigan! I just don't think 5 years is when A/C compressors are supposed to go bad. Maybe I'm wrong.

Re: 2005 Accord A/C crazy problem
if the temps are different, discharge the system, remove the dryer from the condenser and see if the ports are clogged.it probably came apart and is clogging up the condenser.usually the compressor is fine in this situation but sometimes the exp valve gets clogged too.repalced condenser and dryer first then exp valve.

I also have a 2006 limited 4.7 v8. I had the exact problem last summer. It turned out to be low on refrigerant. I put in 1 can from wal mart, and it was fine after that. I'm sure it will be time to do it again as soon as it warms up here.
