221k miles on original engine, for some reason it just started using oil and I can't figure out where its going. Car runs great, has great power, doesn't smoke at all. Avgs 29mpg hand calculated every tank. Had been running castrol 5w20 in it when I noticed oil level was dropping.

Changed the pcv valve and switched to mobil 5000 10w30. Seems to have slowed oil missing, but its still doing it. I bought the car from my father inlaw and he said it never did it, about 1month after I got it is when I noticed it.

Seems to me if it was burning the oil the car should smoke and it doesn't. I park on concrete and it doesn't leak either. This is the 2.4 vtec engine. Any ideas?

How much oil are you losing? I drive a 97 Civic that loses about 2 qt between oil changes (3000 miles) and my CR-V goes through about half of that. Both are within spec and neither of them smoke.

I changed over to the 10w30 around 118k miles, I'm now at 221500. I checked the oil 2wks ago and it was a little below the half way hi/lo marks on the dip stick (mine has 2 holes). When I did the oil change I filled it up the top hi mark and was on level ground so I knew where it was so I could keep an eye on it. I'd say I've lost a quart to a quart in a half in 3500 miles. As I type this it doesn't so bad LOL.

If your oil level is between the 2 dots on the dip stick, you're only down 1/2qt. The bottom dot is down 1 full qt. If you're only losing 1/2qt in 3500 miles you're in pretty good shape and this is well within spec.
