Default 004 accors ex 3.0 pcm replacement

The dealer says I need a new pcm at a cost of about $1300. I just bought a used one for a $100 with a 104k from a reputable salvage yard. How much is a reasonable cost to pay for the dealer to replace pcm with my used one and program if necessary. The dealer said about $70 to program pcm when we thought it might just be a key/immobilizer issue. Replacement itself looks simple and could be done in minutes. Is programming necessary or can I just replace pcm myself. Thanks in advance.

You are going to have to have it programmed.

Call some local shops and see if they can do this for you, there are scan tools that can download the info from the old PCM then upload it to the replacement. These "scan tools" are not the cheap ones most regular DIY'ers have, these are the type a shop/serious tech would buy.

If you can find a local shop to do it, compare the price of what the dealer would charge.....the dealer might cut you some slack since you are already on the "hook" for their other fees.
